* by and large these spider diagrams where just compilations of material created in previous Incubations. But there was also one major editorial intervention : the creation of Con 4 ‘1950’s Interlude.’ This was done because there was judged to be a seam of meaning and narrative within what had been Con 3 which required independent treatment and the development of its own scenography.

The Factional Interpretation of The Configurations :
‘The goal of the various groups represented in the different configurations is to achieve complete disenchantment. Each faction believe that the scientific method holds the key to achieving this, but they each disagree about in what way.
Each Configuration is a contained demonstration of how the scientific methods they try to use become re-enchanted, how the knowledge they produce becomes popularised and enters into symbolic, behavioural realms. Each Configuration is a contained living demonstration like the diaramas that come to life in ‘Night at the Museum.’
First as science then as compulsion.’
